We have linguine for dinner, and Sarah gives up on her fork. Instead, she holds a noodle up horizontally and takes a bite out of the middle first! 9/1

Sarah is adding new words to her vocabulary every single day. Her favorite is still, "EMMY!" 9/2

Sarah the Carnivore: Sarah eats more than two chicken nuggets today! What happened to our Dairy-Only Queen? 9/2

For Em's new afternoon preschool, parents (and siblings) now wait in the hall until their last circle time is over. Today, Sarah peeked in the window and saw Emily sitting there, and she couldn't contain herself: She kept running between me and the window, yelling, "EMMY! EMMY! EMMY!" 9/4

Sarah turns around and around in one place--but too slowly to call it spinning! 9/5

Tonight, reading "One Duck Stuck," Sarah said, "Help! Help!" as soon as I turned to that page in the book--she was clearly waiting for it & said it before I could. She also brought her book "I Hop" to me, saying, "Hop! Hop!" very insistently! 9/7

Sarah the Carnivore, Part Two: Tonight, Sarah puts away a whole plate of sausage, egg, and hashbrowns. No cheese anywhere! 9/7

I've heard Sarah sing bits of 2 recognizable melodies: "Mallory the Gallery Mouse" (a song from Vacation Bible School--it actually comes out more like "MAH-ree, MAH-ree") and just today she sang "Bay-bee Be-loooooo-ya" very clearly! Maybe, unlike her parents, she will be able to carry a tune! 9/8

Sarah saw Emily getting a Band-aid for her knee, and demanded one of her own. She was very proud of it! 9/8

Everyone at church today got a big kick out of watching Sarah "run." She has this extremely determined trot that makes the curls bounce on the back of her neck and she is so clearly pleased with herself for being able to move at such a speed. 9/8

I have been singing, "Amy, Oh Amy" to Sarah recently as I rock her before bedtime, but it turns out she doesn't want to hear "Sarah, Oh Sarah." Whenever I sing it that way, she stops me by saying, "Emmy! Emmy!" VERY forcefully and doesn't stop until I sing, "Emmy, Oh Emmy." Only then does she smile and lay her head down on my chest to listen. 9/11

To celebrate Daddy's first week of classes, we all go visit him at his new office and have lunch together. 9/12

Sarah the Carnivore, Part THREE: Sarah eats all the sole off her plate, then starts begging bites off of mine. 9/12

When we turn into the parking lot at school, Sarah says, "Emmy!" and when we pull into our driveway, she says, "Home!" 9/15

Emily tells me some knock-knock jokes in the car on the way home from school. After listening to her for a few minutes, Sarah calls out, "Knock-knock!" and makes a knocking motion with her fist. When I say, "Who's there, Sarah?" she says, "May-ee!" This is from her book "Where's Maisy?" which ends with: "Knock-knock, who's there? It's Maisy!" Over the course of the afternoon and evening, Sarah adds, "Mow!" (for "Mouse") when I ask, "Maisy who?" 9/16

Tumble Bunny Sarah fell 4 times today: off the chair at breakfast, on the sidewalk & scraped her finger, went backwards on the stoop and hit her head, and bumped into Daddy and bit her tongue. Rough day! 9/19

After watching Elmo talk about birthday cakes this morning at Falyn and Drake's house, Sarah this evening came across a picture of a cake in a coloring book. Daddy finds her coloring it in and saying, "Happy, happy." 9/19

Sarah has been sneaking in some two-word sentences lately, like, "Daddy home," and "Up, please." 9/20

Sarah helps make dinner: We had chicken pockets, chicken and spinach baked in bread. Sarah helped squish the dough together around the chicken, brushed beaten egg on the tops, and VERY carefully sprinkled sesame seeds on top. 9/21

Sarah FINALLY says her own name! I was drawing the faces of our family for her and when we got to hers, she pointed to it and said, "Rah-rah!" 9/21

Today Sarah continued to say her name, over and over. On the way home from church she was crooning, "Emmmm-my, Raaaah-rah." Tonight when I sang to her, she asked again for "Emmy, Oh Emmy," but this time when I started to sing, she interrupted and said, "Rah-rah! Rah-rah!" So I started again, this time singing "Sarah, Oh Sarah." Well, she interrupted me again--she wanted ME to sing "Rah-rah," too! So there I was, singing "Rah-rah, Oh Rah-rah," which sent Emily into a fit of giggles, it sounded so funny. 9/22

Sarah demonstrates her mastery of the words and concepts "open" and "closed" by opening and closing her legs while I change her diaper, all the while saying, "Opie...Bo! Opie....Bo!" 9/24

Sometimes after dropping Em off at school, I turn of the CD so I can have some quiet time and Sarah can start getting ready for her nap. Today, Sarah protested, saying, "Myoo-ie! Myoo-ie!" until I turned on the music again! 9/27

Sarah runs around the house saying, "Hah-hoooo!" (Yahoo!) 9/29
