Grandma and Grandpa are here for a few days before Mom and Dad leave
on their trip! We have a little backyard party with Christine, Todd, and
the Duffs. Sarah once again shows a decided partiality for corn on the
cob! 8/1 Sarah loves to play train with the jump rope, especially with Emily.
She hands Em one end, then trails behind Emily through the kitchen, dining
room, and living room, happily saying, "Tooo! Toooooo!" If Emily
speeds up enough to tug on Sarah's arm, Sarah laughs and laughs. 8/2 We take Grandma and Grandpa to K'Lei and Maya's house for a backyard water party. Sarah doesn't want to get wet, but she does like it when Grandma helps her swing on the swing set! 8/10 Blueberries are "Boopies! Boopies!" 8/13 We take advantage of Daddy's early ice time and go watch him play hockey.
Sarah picks out Daddy on the ice every time--no mistakes. The girls and
I got there after the game started, so she didn't even have a chance to
see him up close in his hockey gear first! 8/14 The Purple Coyotes have an end-of-the-summer skating party before the last of the big kids go on to kindergarten. Christine comes to the rink to sit with Sarah so I can skate with Emily! I can see Sarah peering through the glass boards and her face just lights up when she sees us on the ice. 8/15 Sarah has her first bubble bath! She keeps handing me a cup to fill up with bubbles for her. 8/16 While playing in the family room, Sarah finds a piece from the Sorry! game. She goes over to the shelf of games and pulls all the boxes down until she finds the Sorry! box (really!) and then asks Christine to open it up for her. 8/17 Sarah sits at the table when she's done eating and says, "Q! Q!"
to be excused. 8/11 Emily's big girl bed is delivered and it promptly becomes one of Sarah's favorite places in the world. She can climb up by herself if the stool is at the foot of the bed. She likes to dive into the soft blankets and pillows, then crawl up to the head of the bed where Emily's basket of little treasures is kept. Sarah sits there and plays and plays! Grammy and Grandpa come for their visit! We have a lazy summer week hanging out with them, but also go to the mall, the Children's Museum, and to the Deli News for breakfast, where Sarah has almost as much French toast as Grandpa! 8/20-27 This week Sarah tries somersaults on her own: She makes a bridge, then
flops over onto her side. 8/22 Sarah cuts her 12th tooth at last! 8/22 Sarah holds up a camera to her eyes and says, "Deeez!" 8/26
