We go to Crested Butte for the Fourth of July! Sarah likes the parade, but doesn't want to put her feet in the creek later on to cool off. She does like walking around the neighborhood with Emily, Avery, Shelley, and Mommy, and all the dogs. She tries to run to catch up with everyone! 7/3-8 Sarah spends most of Vacation Bible School with me and the other toddlers in the nursery, but we do join the big kids for closing time. This features the puppet Mallory Mouse, who appears when the kids sing her theme song. By Wednesday Sarah points to Mallory's stage area and says, "Marrory Mow! Marrory Mow!" BEFORE we sing the song and before Mallory appears. 7/8-12 The dentist checks out Sarah's mouth while we are there for Emily's appointment, and says she looks fine! 7/10 Sarah loves to color with markers and pencils as well as crayons and
will sometimes hold the marker in like a big girl--between her thumb and
fingers instead of just in her fist. 7/14 We head to the church picnic this afternoon. It is at a new, fun park this year with a great playground but it is so hot it is hard to have a good time. Sarah likes hanging out with her friend Cati (well, most of the time) and enjoys eating her Rice Crispie Treat by impaling it on her fork and nibbling on it like a popsicle. 7/14 Sarah says "shoe" and "ow [meow]" while looking at pictures in a book. 7/16 We have dinner with our friends Jeff and Sophie and their kids Arthur,
3, and baby Eva. They have invited us to our house and since it is their
day to water, they told us to bring Sarah's swimsuit and they will turn
on the sprinklers! Arthur and Emily run through the sprinklers, but Sarah
isn't so sure! 7/16 We go visit the Queens and play in their backyard. Sarah loves their big swing (on long ropes from a tall tree) and falls in love with Sam when he pushes her around and around the yard in the toy car. 7/23 Sarah says, "Boo!" to Grandpa on the phone today. 7/24 Newest word for Sarah: "ih-eeoo" or just "ee-oh" for "video"! Sarah does dive rolls at gymnastics today! She puts her tummy down on a big cylindrical mat and teacher Kevin lets her roll forward on it, then catches her by the hips and helps her to roll off it onto the floor mat. Wow! Kevin watches Sarah on the bar and says she has a "strong grip." 7/25 Emily hurts her foot, so Sarah lifts up her own foot and says, "Ow!" 7/26 At the edge of our patio or porch, Sarah will go down on her hands and feet, turn until her rear end is at the end of the step, and carefully ease herself down. No falls! 7/26 Liz comes over for dinner. We grill and play outside before dinner. On the hammock, Sarah says, "Ockee, ockee" [Rocking, rocking] 7/26 Sarah holds the bubble wand and blows bubbles all by herself! She is very pleased. 7/28 On our walk after dinner, Sarah says, "Ock." This time she means the rocks by the sidewalk! She also has to step on all the metal Denver Water meter covers in the front yards...all of them. 7/29 The Tshirt we made at Vacation Bible School with Mallory's picture on it is a huge hit with Sarah, who will pull it out from her shirt box and demand to wear it, calling Mallory by name The Deppers and the Duffs go to the Belleview park which has a train, a playground, and a petting zoo! The girls requested "matching sister" outfits. It is VERY hot so the misters in the petting zoo are a big hit! 7/30 .
