Amy went
back to her house Friday night and I spent the night with the
Snydersmiths, changing very very small diapers, watching Phoebe
put on a show, and talking VERY late at night with Mary (we figured
she had to be up nursing anyway....).
On Saturday, Kevin and Grandma Joyce stayed home with Simon and
Will while Mary drove Phoebe and I into the city for Sherry's
wedding. Sherry's invitation was the original impetus behind this
trip!
Here's Sherry and her sweetie Leo at the reception. I'm sorry
you can't see more of Leo. Bill took one look at all my photos
and the first thing he said was, "You do realize you only
took ONE picture of Leo???" |

Seeing Sherry
get married was wonderful, but what was REALLY special about the
weekend was seeing Sherry, Kathy, and Mary at the SAME TIME! We
became good friends through our involvement in the campus ministries
at the Univ. of Iowa.
We have seen each other in various combinations in the years
since college, but this was the first time all four of us were
together since Mary and Kevin's wedding in 1990.
Me, Sherry, Kathy, Mary.
(or using what Emily calls our "fake names:"
Trixie, Foofie, Pokey, and Muffy!)

Here is
the long-lost Randy, aka Skippy, a good friend of ours from the
honors program and student government at Iowa. He was at Muffy's
wedding, too! Over the years we all lost touch with him, until
just months before the wedding, when Sherry just happened to run
into him on the street in what is her and Leo's new neighborhood.
She promptly invited him to the wedding and he promptly got a
job in NYC and moved out there in February, but flew back to Chicago
for the weekend.
After the awesome weekend I had, it is just frosting on the cake
to be back in touch with Skip! |
